Howard 2012 Recap:
Coming off a difficult 2011 competition in which Howard spent most of
the week in fourth place before making a late charge to overtake Sharpe on the
last day, Howard spent Monday of these games building on the momentum they
started at the end of the previous year. In what is likely the best first day
in HMS history, Howard won 7 events on the first day and raced out to a lead
that they would not relinquish the rest of the week. Showing off the diversity of their
athleticism, Howard won events across the board, from LS Girls basketball to US
Boys soccer. Meanwhile the mental capabilities of Howard led to dominance in
Quiz Bowl, Sudoku, Math Team and Diplomacy. There were very few weaknesses in
the 2012 Howard team, allowing the green machine to race out to a big lead and
continue to lead the field for every minute of the 2012 HMS competition. As the
Talent Show began, Howard had the luxury of going last due to their lead in the
competition. What few students knew as the show started was that Howard had
already locked up the 2012 title. This didn’t stop Howard from presenting a
memorable and electrifying finale to the competition, lighting up the
auditorium with a show of the team unity which had characterized their
successful week.
